Spain Has a Team

spainhssno90709bgp3.jpgAnd here is the team that will be representing Spain in the upcoming Euro 2008 … (great kits, no?)

Goalkeepers: Iker Casillas (Real Madrid), Jose Manuel Reina (Liverpool/ENG), Andres Palop (Sevilla)

Defenders: Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid), Carles Puyol (Barcelona), Juanito (Real Betis), Alvaro Arbeloa (Liverpool/ENG), Fernando Navarro (Real Mallorca), Raul Albiol (Valencia), Carlos Marchena (Valencia), Joan Capdevila (Villarreal)

Midfielders: Cesc Fabregas (Arsenal/ENG), Andres Iniesta (Barcelona), Xavi Hernandez (Barcelona), David Silva (Valencia), Santiago Cazorla (Villarreal), Ruben de La Red (Getafe), Xabi Alonso (Liverpool/ENG), Marcos Senna (Villarreal)

Strikers: David Villa (Valencia), Sergio Garcia (Real Zaragoza), Fernando Torres (Liverpool/ENG), Daniel Guiza (Real Mallorca)

No Raul (which is a good thing in my opinion … no need to play to him or focus on his dilemmas … it’s been time for the national team to move forward without the Madrid legend for some time now) … only 2 Real Madrid players, 3 Barcelona players, 4 Liverpool and 4 Valencia … this is a well-balanced, well-refined unit …

And let me boldly say right now …

This team can win it all …

Like the 2004 Red Sox, the team’s ready to break their quarterfinal curse …

Just look at this array of talent …

I’m excited … can’t wait for this tournament to start!!!

Wow! Only two from Madrid and three from Barcelona! At first glance that looks odd, but then, these two teams have so many foreigners on their roster.

I am a Barca fan, but I think it Raul should get his chance. He played well for Real this season.

Commenting on the roster:

Goalkeeping corp: A+
Casillas is awesome! Reina is excellent

Defenders: B
Ramos is overrated. Puyol is getting old.

Midfielders: A
Xavi, Iniesta, Fabregas, Silva, …. Need I say more?

Strikers: A
Tores and Villa are one of the best, if not the best, striking duos in Europe’s best pure strikers Pound-for-pound.

Spain should do well this year. I am waiting for them to finally break through and make it to the final game.

I love the french team but i admit on paper Spain is favorite to win Euro 08, it’s just they never come together as a team in the past but if they do watch out.

Spain is the only team i fear being french, i want to thank the coach for not taking RAUL he is one of the best players in Europe and in my opinion would have made Spain even stronger.THANK MR ARRAGONES if France looses I will support Spain 100% I hope we don’t meet lol

Raul is on form and a legend in Spain, but he is not needed. Villa and Torres are the top pair of strikers in Europe, and adding Raul, as Cesar said, is just a media-driven headache. However, I’m still a little unhappy with the seleccion. Cazorla and Sergio Garcia? Come on. Joaquin deserved at least a reserve role. Be that as it may, I have a great feeling that Spain is finally due to overcome. VIVA LA FURIA ROJA!
