Venezuela vs Spain Friendly Preview and Match Comment Thread
A friendly to put a brooch on a season in which Spain has done everything well, except friendlies.
Usually it's seals doing this trick, but Our Wise Walrus can do anything...
Oh well, it could be worse. I’m sure the players could do with a relaxing friendly match with no huge expectations, no drama and no more responsibility than to put on a good show and give a chance to some new players.
We’ve heard that Del Bosque is planning to play every single one of the player he has dragged onto this friendly tour, so our proposed starting XI features mostly the called-up players who did not get a chance to show off against the USMNT, as so:
————–Valdés—————-
Iraola–Marchena–Albiol–Capdevila
——–Alonso—Bruno——–
——–Cazorla—-Iniesta———
——–Pedro——Llorente———
With Manu del Moral coming in as a sub at HT, depending on the result. A sort of trail-mix of old-timers and new options, with enough strength not to be embarrassed on the field, but with interesting innovations that might or might not work here and there. I’m particularly hoping for a good show from Iraola, given our current full-back situation, although I hear that Bruno Soriano can and has make do as a LB… anyone has seen him play there?
In any case, it’ll be a match we can take easy and, hopefully, enjoy. And then, our internationals go on their well-deserved holidays until their clubs’ pre-season starts, and we are left with the adventures of the U21s as they try to put on a good show for the European Championship… I’ll keep you updated!
