Antonio Banderas, the Titanic and Asier del Horno

May 2nd, 2006 | By: Ian | 2 Comments »

Lots of good tidbits in the latest Spanish football piece from Soccernet’s Phil Ball.
Among them:

Asier del Horno becomes the first Spanish player to play a full season with an English Premier League title-winning team.

The return of Xavi gives Luis Aragones roughly 348723432934 midfield combinations for Spain’s World Cup squad.

Antonio Banderas calls Real Madrid the Titanic.

Banderas, of course, is a Malaga-born actor who has been a long-time supporter of Real Madrid. He at first desired to play soccer professionally, but apparently broke his foot. Sure Antonio, you say “broken foot,” I say the entire set of Spy Kids 2 could beat you one-on-one.
