Aragones: Spain will triumph at World Cup 2006

June 25th, 2006 | By: Nick O'Neill | 8 Comments »

Spain coach Luis Aragones is confident his team has what it takes to beat France and progress through to the next round of World Cup 2006 (remember its a game of 2 halves). Aragones gave France their ‘props’ and said basically all the remaining teams were on the same level, and players like Zidane were still capable of deciding a game.

Aragones said his priority was to keep Spain on the boil, rather than worry about future opponents.

He’s right, of course. France is still very dangerous, but I believe they are ripe for the picking. We need to win the mid-field battle and pour it on in the second half. Under pressure the French will fade.

Underestimating any opponent is dangerous no matter who they are. Even though France has not been playing its best football we have to go out and play everygame not just this one like its the final. Thats how the big teams win, every game is the title game the championship game and you bring your best football. Rezen que tenga un buen dia Espana y ojala que le gane a Francia.

A por ellos oe.

Viva espana

Yes Furia EspaƱola…. underestimating a team is a common mistake which can cost a team the game and in this case, the world cup…… This is what happened when Poland faced Ecuador. The Poles were sure Ecuador would be a sure win.

The Spanish team has learned alot from these past 3 games….. and one of those lessons is not to underestimate a team, like when they faced Tunisia… thank god they got their shit together by the second half. Mark my words: they won’t make that mistake again.

Spain will have a real apponent on this day. This is their first true test, Win were in, lose and its all over for another 4 years, its that simple. It won’t get any easier from here on in. I know they can beat France. I’m looking forward to a great match and a Spain victory. Lets keep it going, ride the wave. Enjoy, all my friends. Talk to you after our win.

bye bye Spain and don’t let the door hit you on the way out.

Spain the perennial “under achievers” at the World Cup simply can’t handle the pressure with another early exit despite all their bravado, trash talking and lame predictions of bringing home the trophy.

Serves you right given your arrogance publicly stating in the Spanish press over the years how you play a superior brand of soccer to Italy and when 2 Italians teams where playing for the UEFA championship several years ago how it was the worst possible thing for the sport setting it back decades.

Once again going home early after being humiliated by the French …Oh I forgot what was the score ? Better study the Azzurri and learn how to play defense.

The score doesn’t tell the whole story of the game, but I suppose that makes no difference to a football-ignorant simpleton such as yourself, John.

When you say La Seleccion should learn to play defense like the Azzurri, what you *really* mean is that they should play ugly diving football like the French, Dutch and Italians. In tournament situations I guess that clever but cowardly strategy probably makes sense…

But please, don’t call it defense; call it what it really is – cheating.
