Cesc on the rise

March 11th, 2006 | By: Ian | No Comments »

Eighteen-year-old Cesc Fabregas continues to be the talk of Spain after a pair of impressive recent performances.

He became Spain’s youngest player to make an international debut in 70 years earlier this month in a 3-2 victory over Ivory Coast. He not only was successful, but took the match by the horns — controlling the game’s pace in midfield. Then, just last week, he helped Arsenal hold Real Madrid and advance to the Champions League quarterfinals.

Clearly, he’s proved he belongs in Spain’s line-up in June. He’s also stated he’s ready to team up with Xabi Alonso in the midfield.

“I’d love to partner Xabi in the Spain midfield during the World Cup. I think we’d do well together. Our games complement each other and it would be unbelievable to win the tournament playing alongside him.”

The closer we get to the World Cup, the more it appears Cesc will have an opportunity to make a huge impact on the tournament.
