Former Barça Star In Serious Condition

Guillermo Amor was involved in car accident early Sunday morning

The former blaugrana star was on his way back home from Tarragona when he was involved in an accident on the AP-7 highway around 2:20am local time. He was taken to the L’Ametlla Clinic, but had to be transferred to the Intensive Care Unit at the Verge de la Cinta Tortosa Hospital and was operated on early this morning and is in critical condition.

Amor was a member of the club’s legendary Dream Team in the early and mid-90’s coached by Johan Cruyff. Amor’s resume is extensive having played in 550 games for the Catalans winning five league titles, three Copa del Rey titles, two Recopas, a European championship as well as having played for the Spanish national team in Euro 96 and the World Cup in 1998.

Amor was working as director of the Sant Joan Despí Sport Complex, working on various projects involving Barcelona’s youth program.
