Franz is too much of a dandy for me, but he's right about Spain. I actually think Italy and Spain will be the two best European sides in Germany... even better than the mighty English.

Spain and Italy both were solid teams in Korea and were unfortunate to go out early in Korea thanks to bad officiating.

Germany has a chance only because it is in Germany. They are not a great team and do not have one singly great striker, and their interior defense is unsettled to date.

France, because it has Henry and Trezeguet, among others, of course can contend. I don't think they lost a single qualifying match.

Argentina and Brazil are the real deal, although I actually see Argentina not making it out of their group because Serbia-Montenegro and Holland will be playing basically home matches in Germany. Watchout for the Ivory Coast as well.

England is puffed up and will not win the Cup.

I don't agree with you Finnegan for Germany. How can you put them on the same level with the two south american teams ? Even so they'll play at home, they are just outsiders like a few others. Germany is a predictable team who has showned nothing for a long time and I still can't believe how they've managed to find themselves in the finale in 2002.For me the germans wil bow out before the finale for sure.
For the rest, I agree with you.
