Injury News Getting Better for Spain

January 14th, 2006 | By: WC Bob | No Comments »

Spain captain Raul has told his coach that he expects to be ready to go in Germany this summer. Raul, who had the always pleasant experience of rupturing his knee ligaments in November, says that he expects to be fit in time to lead his national team.

Raul’s proclamation comes at a time when team doctors say another key player in the Spanish team, Barcelona midfielder Xavi Hernandez, could also return earlier than expected from a knee injury.

This is great news for Spanish fans who are eager for their team to avenge a disappointing early exit in Korea 2002. Both Raul and Xavi are critical parts of the national team and their health, or lack thereof, will make a difference for a Spanish side that has to be considered the favorite to advance from a weak Group H.
