As a Canadian with Spanish descent I watched Spain at the U-20 World Cup last year and was incredibly impressed with the defensive play of Gerard Pique. Spain is a side that consistently is weak at the back line, and I would have loved to see him with a role in this team. His defensive presence is huge, and his ability to put the ball in the other teams net, especially on set pieces, makes him someone Spain could build a championship team around. Since I have started watching Spain have never had a bonafide top-quality centre back. He is it.

I’m a little worried about Bojan and his loyalties and commitment but he is very young, so give our future star a break.

I am happy about the newbies Cazorla and Sergio Garcia, but who knows if the old coot will play them. They will be hungry, tho.

I miss Ximo/Joaquin and his big mouth.

Why no Diego Capel? Why no Aitor Ocio and Amorebieta?

Too many Los Che, which kinda worries me. Especially in defense.

Glad to see Palop get his due, though late.

And honestly Ryan, I don’t give a toss what Maradona thinks of La Furia. It’s just a good laff.

It seems logical to not take Bojan if he cant handle the pressure. Football is played for fun at his age, he does not have the maturity to be a full fledged international yet in my opinion, and if he wont have fun playing at the Euro’s and will be more concerned with pressure then he should stay home and rest.

Cazorla isnt a bad pick, but if your going to bring an inexperienced winger to the Euros, why not someone with a future on the national team like Mata, Jesus Navas, Capel or hell even try out yet another central midfielder like Javi Martinez. Aragones missed the chance to bring some younger guys along that would help integrate them for the future tournaments, and thats to bad.
