Luis addresses the Messi-kicker

Luis Aragones failed to offer up a convincing argument defending his selection of Asier del Horno over Mariano Pernia. Said Aragones: “(Argentina-born) Pernia only recently got his Spanish nationality and a coach must respect other players that have played before.”

Aragones also reminded the public of Del Horno’s goal against England. Luis is reaching at this point. I was hoping he could say that Del Horno offered something to the squad that Pernia did not. Instead, we’ve learned that Del Horno has accomplished the following over the past two years:
1. Kick Leo Messi in the Champions League.
2. Score a goal against England.
