Mariano Pernia for Spain?
Radio Marca is reporting that Mariano Pernia has obtained double nationality and can be named to Spain’s squad for the World Cup.
Pernia, an Argentinian goal-scoring defender, has been instrumental in helping Getafe into the top half of the table this season. Next season, he will join Atletico Madrid.
In the past, Luis Aragones has said Pernia is in contention for a World Cup spot if he becomes a citizen. Has Aragones’ preliminary squad of 33 swelled to 34?
With the return of Xavi Hernandez and now this, things aren’t getting any easier for Luis.

So who is the left back in your starting 11?
Asier del Horno? A starter on one of the best teams in the world.
Mariano Pernia? Seems to be in the prime of his career.
Antonio Lopez? I’d consider him the odd man out.
This is a good problem to have.

It’s kind of random, but I was wondering who people think will be the starting 11 at all the positions?

I’ll Have a go, Aragones usually favors a 4-2-3-1. So if it were up to me
GK: Casillas
RB: Sergio Ramos
CBs: Marchena, Puyol
LB: Asier Del Horno
CMs: Xavi, Xabi Alonso
LM: Vicente
CF: Raul
RM: Joaquin
ST: David Villa
Obviously Raul, Vicente, and Xavi all have to prove that they’re fit. I think Aragones will probably favor Baraja or Albelda over Alonso… If Vicente can’t go Reyes will probably stand in for him. On an unrelated note its a pity Guti wasn’t selected for this squad… he is so versatile that I think he deserves a spot plus he has (at times) been superb for Madrid.

In the midfield, I prefer Iniesta from Barcelona, who is having an incredible season substituting Xavi, or Cesc Fabregas who has led Arsenal to Champion’s league final

My Starting 11 would have to be the folling with Casillas as the Captain;
GK: Casillas
RB: Sergio Ramos
CBs: Mariano Pernia, Puyol
LB: Asier Del Horno
CMs: Senna, Xabi Alonso
LM: Vicente
CF: Torres
RM: Morientes
ST: David Villa
