Show me the money!
One development out of Spain’s get-together yesterday in Madrid was the finalization of World Cup bonuses for Spain players. Depending on how far the team goes in the tournament, each Spain player earns a bonus.
If Spain wins the World Cup, each player is awarded 540,000 euros.
360,000 euros to reach the finals.
210,000 euros to reach the semifinals.
90,000 euros to reach the quarterfinals.
A little extra motivation, if you will.
How would I spend the money? Glad you asked.
540,000 euros: Down payment on a Las Vegas strip condominium. I’ll figure out how to pay for the rest of it later.
360,000 euros: Bring a real professional basketball team to my hometown. I’m not sure how far I would get with 360,000 euros, but I bet I could get further than the Portland Trail Blazers.
210,000 euros: Find some land, create a soccer field of dreams. If you build it, Romario will come.
90,000 euros: One of these in monaco blue metallic, please.

Now tell me why Spain is being staiing in such a cheap hotel?

Spain could offer its players a billion dollars each for a World Cup win because they’ll never have to pay out.
