Spain 2, Croatia 1

June 7th, 2006 | By: Ian | 14 Comments »

Goals from Mariano Pernia and Fernando Torres lifted Spain to a 2-1 victory over Croatia in the final World Cup warm-up for both teams.

El Nino missed from the penalty spot in the match, but came back to score the game-winner in extra time. That goal from Torres may make up for sub-par performances in every World Cup warm-up so far.

Spain center back Pablo Ibanez’s own-goal in the 14th minute gave Croatia a 1-0 lead.

OMG… The ref was sooo patient in this game! I counted 3 or 4 potential yellows just in the 2nd part.

Good game, bit rough at times but what a phenomenal finish!

I can see Spain dealing some major damage in this years world cup. No doubt, Brazil will be cocky (they always are!) if they face Spain in 1/4’s and I just got a gut feeling that Spain will cause a major upset.

Yeah, alot of the Brazilian players play in Spain well aleast Ronaldiho, Ronaldo, R.Carlos, Robinho, and a few others cann’t remember,,,and now the brazilian attack and style,,, It would be a HUGE Game! Depending on the support Spain get and the Referee on the day, it would be a close game. I predict either Spain France final or Brazil Germany final… Hopefully Spain Wins… Forca Espana!!

Spain is the one to watch this year. The Ukrainians will be crushed 3-0. Count on it.

spain have always been a great team & have a league where s.americans can flourish & naturally that is picked up by the other non s.american players in la liga.
the problem is that football is fixed, & fifa does not like spain as champions both in club & country competitions.

I don’t think so, Worldcupfanatic. Ukraine is deluding themselves if they think they can they can hang with Spain this time. And if Sheva doesn’t play they have NO chance.
