Spain vs. Tunisia

June 19th, 2006 | By: WC Bob | 12 Comments »

It is game day and I am excited to see how we respond. After playing so well against Ukraine I must admit I am a bit nervous that the team will have a letdown. From all indications, spirits have been good in the training sessions this week and the players are saying they are focused on the task at hand.

I am surprised to learn that this is the first time Spain and Tunisia have ever played. My guess is that Tunisia is more familiar with Spain’s players than we are with theirs. Tunisia will be without their number one striker Santos who is out with an injury. Spain will be at full strength with none of the players facing card accumulation problems.

Sergio Ramos has said: “Any team can surprise you in this type of competition and you have to have complete respect for your rivals. We were really surprised Tunisia drew their opening game. We’re finding more and more out about our opponents and we know they’re a strong unit, as are the Saudis. It won’t be easy.”

I think this will be a closer match than some are predicting but in the end Spain will prevail 2-1. What’s your prediction?

Got Villa to be golden boot at $40.
So I may be biased but I would expect four goals in this game.
either 4-0 or 3-1 to Spain

I’m praying for a spain win 2-0 or maybe 3-0. Villa and Torres getting the goals. Come on Spain!!!

I think things will depend on how the first twenty minutes go. If Spain scores early it could be a blow-out. But regardless of how the first half goes, I don’t think the Tunisians have the youth or technique to hang with Spain for 90 minutes.

Spain wins 3 - 0.

Tunisia is a useful side that is much better than it showed against the Saudis. I’ll be happy with a relatively close but comfortable win (i.e. 3-1 or even 2-1 with a fluky Tunisian goal).

Terrific pace to this game. We couldn;t have asked for more from the Tunisian to take th wind out of Iberian sails and ensure that the Spaniards get a little panicky–for entertainment’s sake. Less than a shower of Spanish goals still seems unlikely though.

Halftime is not the end of the match, as we say in Spanish “to the tip of the tail, all is a bull”… Spain 3 Tunisia 1. Congratulations Spain!

Tunisia, fair play for their brilliant effort. If it wasn’t for bad refereeing decisions and Tunisia’s missing injured strikers, they would’ve produced even better results. Spain: ought to be ashamed of their performance, being behind for 70 minutes, and always boasting of having the best league in the world with players coming from Barca, Real Madrid and Valencia, compared to Tunisia a poor country who can barely invest enough money in their small league and youth system. Hyped up about Fernando Torres, who really should’ve scored a lot more for the chances he got if his blond hair wasn’t in the way.Laughable performance by the giant Spanish Armada.

Haz-algo, do you mean fair play when Torres was grabbed time after time? About Tunisia as a “poor country”, maybe that’s why they have put the HANDball team goalkeeper, he didn’t catch the ball, he just hit it.. Why do you speak so bad about Spain?
