Preview: Spain v Belgium; GolTV 4pm EST
Ah, the international break – such a love hate relationship I have with thee. Being a Sevilla and Tottenham supporter, I see my team’s players fly out all over the world to represent their countries and risk coming back to my beloved clubs injured; but at the same time I can’t hide my undeniable love for my country and the excitement when they play is unbelievable.
Today we take on Belgium in the Riazor at home in A Coruña. Last time we played the Belgians we came back from a 1-0 deficit to win 2-1 with David Villa grabbing a late winner in the 88th minute. Today is should be a similar match with Belgium being a defensively solid opponent.
Marcos Senna returns today which will give Vicente del Bosque a bit of a headache in the midfield. I predict it will be David Silva on the left with Senna/Xabi Alonso in the middle and Xavi on the right.
We have a perfect record thus far in World Cup 2010 qualifying and today we should really be able to continue that streak.
Iniesta is still out and Sergio Ramos also is probably out with Arbeloa taking his spot at right back.
Two massive pieces of our puzzle are missing but still, Belgium should be a task that La Furia Roja can handle.

Villa misses a sitter, Torres off the bar. We’re absolutely dominating.

Finally – Silva goal, 41′

Villa to Silva – gotta love it. Give Guaje some time he missed a sitter, but he and Torres will click. Can’t wait for the 2nd half.

sometime torres is quite frustrating to watch-those following him from atletico know what i am talking about-this season for both liverpool n spain he has been quite of dissapointing
anyway gr8 performance by the team-my best three star would be
1.silva-great first goal,n the second was even better
2.pique-what a rock in the back 4-n got on the score sheet too
3.villa-wasnt his usaul scoring self in the first 30 min but then everything changed
esp. mention-puyol n xavi obs.

Totally agree with Amunt. Honorable mention to Arbeloa who had a surprisingly good game. I normally am not impressed with him. He’s overrated IMO. Also Xabi Alonso who conducted the midfield nicely along with el maestro Xavi. Nice work by the 2 Xs.

How is Villa’s 2nd goal (passed from Fabregas) is not considered offside??
I’m sucks with this rule..

Back at it again huh? Nothing dampens Spain’s spirits does it (referring to the recent loss at the ConFed cup and the somewhat difficult game against Macedonia)?
You guys need to slow down.
I want Holland to catch up in the Fifa ranking. I’m not sure but if it works like tennis tournaments, being 2nd ranked is more advantageous for the group seeding than being 3rd ranked. No chance to meet Brazil before the final. At least that’s how it works with tennis and the nr.1 and nr.2 seed.
Good game again by Spain, back on the fast track.

I turned away from the game in disgust after 3-0. You guys are just too good! Damn.
Belgium was totally overrun, could have been 5 or 6-0 by then and eventuelly it did apparently.

Well Aku, since Villa was behind Fàbregas when he received the pass, he is therefore not offside because he was behind the ball.
And yes Sol, I was scared because we have notoriously choked in the past but I think our resilience shows the true strength of this squad and the great things we can achieve in the very near future. Hopefully anyway eh?
